Taro with tofu pudding 芋頭豆花

Tofu pudding (Chinese: 豆花, douhua) is a Chinese dessert made with soft tofu. Tofu (豆腐), also called bean curd, is a white substance made from mashed soybeans.

In Taiwanese cuisine, tofu pudding or douhua is normally served with sweet toppings like cooked peanuts, taro, mung beans, etc. During the summer, douhua is served with crushed ice and in winter, it is served warm.

To enjoy this dessert, I biked about 15 kms from Daan District (大安區) to Ningxia Night Market (寧夏夜市) where the store “豆花莊” is located in Datong District (大同區) of Taipei City.

“豆花莊” serves a variety of delicious douhua desserts.
